Paul Tannous, MD, PhD, is an interventional cardiologist and an instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Tannous completed his pediatric residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, followed by categorical cardiology fellowship and advanced training in interventional cardiology at Boston Children’s Hospital, where he also served as Chief Fellow for the 2015 academic year. His clinical emphasis is performing minimally invasive procedures on patients with congenital heart disease, while his research interests include translational medicine with a focus on biomarkers and regulators of angiogenesis in the setting of cyanotic congenital heart disease.
Asha Nair, MD, joined the Heart Center as an attending in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Nair completed pediatric residency training at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and pediatric cardiology fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in D.C. She also worked as a hospitalist in the Neonatal Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. Dr. Nair most recently completed a senior fellowship in cardiac intensive care here at Boston Children’s Hospital. Her clinical and research interests include mechanical circulatory support and anticoagulation management in the cardiac intensive care unit.
Muhammad Ghbeis, MD, works in the Cardiac Critical Care Unit (8 South). A graduate of Damascus University medical school (Syria), Dr. Ghbeis completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Marshfield Clinic St. Joseph’s Hospital in Wisconsin. From there, he went on to a fellowship training in pediatric critical care at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, and spent another year of fellowship training at Boston Children’s, focusing mainly on pediatric cardiac critical care.
Sunil Ghelani, MD, is a staff cardiologist and instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He is a part of the Division of Cardiac Imaging and heavily involved in echocardiography and cardiac MRI. Dr. Ghelani completed his early medical training, including medical school and a pediatric residency, in India. He subsequently completed a pediatric residency at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., followed by a cardiology fellowship and advanced training in cardiac imaging at Boston Children’s Hospital. His research interests include using cardiac imaging and circulating biomarkers for risk stratification and outcome predictions for patients with complex congenital heart diseases.
Elizabeth Dewitt, MD is a member of the electrophysiology and general cardiology divisions and an instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. DeWitt completed her pediatric residency in the Boston Combined Residency Program at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center, then stayed on for categorical cardiology fellowship and advanced training in electrophysiology at Boston Children’s Hospital. She also served as Chief Fellow for the 2015 academic year. Her clinical work will concentrate on arrhythmia management in pediatrics and congenital heart disease. Dr. DeWitt is also coordinating the local electrophysiology involvement in the NCDR IMPACT registry and will serve as a Boston Children’s referral resource for patients from Rhode Island.
